About this role

Minimum qualifications:

5 years of experience with designing and managing MySQL databases with a focus on performance, security, scalability, reliability, high-availability, and disaster recovery.
Experience with database internals, diagnose memory leaks, data corruption, replication, database performance, and tuning.
Experience with scripting, automation, exposure to SQL/PL-SQL, and languages such as Python and Java.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in migrating mission-critical database applications from on-premise to cloud, or running in a hybrid cloud environment for large enterprise.
Experience building and packaging database components in Kubernetes (K8s).
Experience in technical consulting on database design and architecture.
Experience working in a fast-moving dynamic organization with extensive cross-collaboration with various functions such as Support, Software Engineering, Product Management.
Experience supporting large enterprise customers with high SLO and SLA requirements.

You're responsible for tuning and configuring our databases as well as building tools and scripts to monitor, troubleshoot and automate our systems. Other areas of responsibility include designing and enhancing disaster recovery and backup systems. Responsibilities

Help root-cause release issues like corruption, memory leaks, lock contentions, performance regressions, increased CPU usage, etc. Train the scalability challenge from all aspects deployments, database management, and database operations.
Partner and help drive great cross-functional relationships with internal leadership, stakeholders, and partners to help create highly reliable database offerings there by expanding the footprint of SQL products for Google Cloud.
Develop relationships with key enterprise customers and engage with them to recommend instance sizing, flag settings, other best practices, and help customers perform experiments with different settings to tune cloud SQL (MySQL) instances for their workloads.
Provide input and influence the product roadmap and strategy, while prioritizing pre-existing initiatives to drive multifold returns for Google Cloud business broadly and the production teams specifically.
