The main purpose of training is to help participant to change the mindset or tune the mindset very close to the objective of the organization.
How can we have make training a dramatic impact?
1. Getting Ready for presentation:
To get ready for presentation, there are two vital factors: a> Preparation b> Practice. Taking time to prepare properly can increase the chance of successrate.
Decide what is to be communicated to audience properly.Focus on the purpose of the presentation at every stage to know if its relevant and efficient. The audience will always be impressed by the depth and breadth of speakers knowledge rather than a show of false interacts.
2. Use of Audio-Visual Aids:
Presentation becomes very effective with the use of appropriate aids.
Few aids that can be included are:
a> Handouts-It Makes presentation error free and distribute in advance.
b> Slide Projector- Keep slides in sequence and have a good commentary. Escape some slides, if you feel unnecessary. Practise operation to be handy.
c> Videos- They are used for small time limit and to show small events or small information etc.
d> Computer Graphics- Software can be used to display graphs, charts, three-dimensional images etc.
Also use fonts which are easy to read, Professional looking google fonts are safe enough, unless you are a designe. Also carefully select font size to avoid creating wall of text.
By using default layouts, coherent design changes can be made across presentation anytime needed.
Text and background colours should we chosen wisely as poor choice of colors can ruin presentation.
To avoid any confusion, Number the slides. Use cartoons to make serious points lighter.
Use images to visualize the summary of presentation, but do not use images to decorate as it just distracts. Images can reinforce or complement message.
Use a sufficient image resolution. Images might look good on desktop, but once blown up on projector, low resolution images makes presentation quality low.
3. Use of Instruments/ Questionnaires:
This is an analytical factor in training activity. With the use of Instruments, it becomes very easy to convince the audience.The one who is going to administer the instrument, must be an experienced and well-trained person.
4. Use of Case studies:
It is one of the powerful methods conencted with improving performance. Case is nothing but statement of facts or an actual situation. Study means acquiring knowledge by reading, examining or observing carefully. Use of research based information.
While using case study method, the concerned presenter must be well versed with this technique.
5. Body Language matters:
Making eye contact and usage of facial expressions that are congruent with words .
6. Voice- Volume, Pitch and Pauses:
Change volume and pitch of voice to add emphasis.
Include post training activities
Always its best to summarize key points of presentation in a take home message. A Take home message is nothing but summary or data or story of that particular presentation. This helps audience remember what was presented .
